A Sad Time and The End of An Era

I (Scott) will rarely ever post an article without Matt here to argue with or help me drive home a point. But, Sunday, August 3, 2008 was a day that would bare news that just could not be left unwritten about. With Matt on vacation in New York that leaves me to do this alone. As I said Saturday was a day that the flags should have been at half-mast in and around Atlanta. One of the greatest sports-casters to ever call a game died. Harry Christopher "Skip" Caray passed while feeding birds in his back yard only three days after what would be his final broadcast for the Atlanta Braves.

Class Is In Session!!!

OK look, we're not gonna play around...foreplay is for the bedroom only and NOT the average Joe sports fan. This blog may not be for the weak at heart, the faint in mind, or the casual bystander. This is brass-tacks and bare knuckles. We plan on tackling the FACTS. There will be no fluff found here...no beating around the bush. We have real opinions, real issues and real minds. We don't care what the news reports. In sports talk, as in the general revolution of the world, only the strong survive. Crooked officials, stupid management, BAROID BONDS and the type...BEWARE.

Sports and Integrity

I love sports. I love the physical play, the teamwork, the individual effort, and the all around joy that playing and watching can bring. I have noticed though through the years with the increased pay for athletes and in a world where info can be shared in a split second without thought, that some people are tarnishing the teams, games, and sports we love. There are also those who shine a light on what good sportsmanship is all about.

Sports Trades and MLB All- Stars

Got some deals going on in sports. Finally, Jason Taylor heads out of Miami to play for Washington who seemingly has lost DE Philip Daniels on the first day of training camp for the rest of the season! Good move for both sides, as you knew Miami was not fond of Taylor this year.

20 Million Reasons A-Rod SHould Have been in the HR Derby

Publicist Kim Etheredge said Terrell Owens had 25 million reasons to stay alive, well I think Alex Rodriguez has 20 million reasons to participate in the Homerun Derby. The choice of certain star athletes to miss events of this magnitude is the root of the problem with lack of connection between fan and player nowadays.

Baseball's Magic Number

What's the Magic Number in Baseball?

What's the Magic Number in baseball? It's simply the number of games that the team leading a division
needs to win to ensure winning the division. If you're leading the division with ten games remaining
and your Magic Number is three, you only need to win three of those ten games to ensure winning the
division. Each time you win, your Magic Number goes down by one. Each time your nearest divisional
competitor loses, your Magic Number also goes down by one. When your Magic Number hits zero, you've
clinched the division.

NEW FAN CONTEST!

Hey there! We are holding a fun new contest (see our blog at www.myspace.com/SanAntonioSUCKS) to create an identity for the new Oklahoma City team (formerly the Seattle Supersonics). I know most of our friends are Phoenix Suns fans, but it's still fun to speculate and make suggestions.
